Dude and I went to look at a house today. (Truth be told, we've looked at several over the past few weeks. I am severely limiting the area we're looking in, the housing market in the U.S. is tanking and we've both got places to sell. Don't hold your breath.) Today's potential house was 5.4 times bigger than my current abode. Not counting the completely finished (for storage) attic.
My entire place fit into that attic.
But the house was passive solar. (Good article on this here.) And it was different. (And it had 4 full size refridgerators. We could rent out the entire lower level and still have 3.6 times more space than here. Plus the attic. People, why does one family need 4 (not a typo: f.o.u.r.) full sized refridgerators? And a freezer?) But I liked "different". Someone planned out a space to fit their needs, rather than a cookie cutter place to fit "all" needs.
I'm not over the size thing.
I know that my place is (realllyreally) small compared to U.S. standards. But it is not so small in some other places. (Lilliput, for example.) But the amount of storage space (presumably filled with stuff) just overwhelms me.
I don't want that much stuff.
I mean, how many Christmas lights would it take to decorate it? (At least there's attic storage space to handle this!)
Speaking of Christmas lights, I can not be the first to notice the resemblance of fireflies to blinking lights? Or dragonflies?
While walking the furry white one today, there were 15 - 20 dragon flies flitting about. Some emerald green, and some a brilliant bright azure.
Dragonflies eat mosquito's. I love them.
(Some) promised acquisition flashing:
This is a bag I bought from Bea (Bah Bah Blacksheep)
It is not roomy but it holds a
small project (socks!) I've been stalking since I first saw the fabric on Bea's blog.
Inside, it has little paw prints.
What's a bag without yarn? This is YarnPig Tweed Sock in the Deep Ocean colorway, 65% superwash merino, 25% nylon, 10% Donegal Tweed, about 462 yards per 100 grams.
This is my first YarnPig yarn and I love the
tweedy part.
Preparing to dig ...
Hey, why am I posting so late (well, for me) ?
Miz E,
Cool news re the house hunt for you & the Dude - woo hoo.
Four frigs? Hmmmm.
Perhaps they could be new storage places for yarn??!!
XOXO
